About KDA

Realizing the need for more training and support for local Democrats across the state, a group of committed Democrats met in January of 2023 to discuss how best to meet the need. They decided to form a new organization, not to compete with the existing state party, but to supplement its work. To call out this work, the name Kentucky Democratic Auxiliary was chosen, and a mission statement was adopted:

We empower Democrats to win by providing training, resources, and support.

Bruce Maples was installed as the first chair of the group, and Anna Whites agreed to serve as the legal counsel.

Four committees were formed:

  • County Party Training
  • Candidate Training
  • Advocate Training
  • Communications and Logistics

Our goals in 2023 are to get the group established, to build out and deliver the first offerings in county party and candidate training, and to create an initial web site to share information and resources. Eventually, we hope to continue to expand the breadth and depth of the training we offer, and to provide some level of consulting to individuals and groups.
